Online shopping freak
Nov 6th, 2009 by Angele
Hello my name is Angele and I’m addicted to … S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G. Oops, wait I’m not on shopaholic anonymous here, right? Hahahaa! Seriously, I think I’m a shopping freak. Clothes, shoes, accessories, handbags… you name it! And don’t even mention sales! Ah, the sweet pleasure of sales shopping, all the thrills and excitement and almost none of the guilt.
Lately I’ve been hit by the online shopping craze. Online shopping is way more appealing than wrestling around the shops. In fact, I would say that online shopping is an art, one in which the object of the match is acquiring the goods you want at a price you can afford.
Give me a cuppa, some snacks and a laptop any day of the week and the deal is on.

Online shopping in Mauritius has become more popular over the years but despite the growing popularity of e-commerce, some Mauritian internet users still believe online purchases to be risky. They don’t trust the system. I’ve heard stories about online shoppers getting scammed and I’m well aware of the inherent dangers associated with online buying. But I guess that as long as you deal with well-known websites like eBay and the vendors have a good selling history and display accurate contact information prominently on their website, it can be considered safe to take the plunge and start a great online shopping experience.
Anyway, this morning I was browsing the Internet to look for online clothing stores that sell nice and affordable outfits and that ship their items worldwide. But I was kinda disappointed. The very few stores I found with amazing prices, and an even more amazing selection of items simply didn’t ship their products to Mauritius. That was so not cool. T_T
So shopaholics out there, any online stores you can recommend that offer good deals and that ship to Mauritius?

I have a friend who just shops online, but she’s in Asia and there’s so many cheap stuff to order from China. I guess your country is not so well connected with the rest of the world
I’m no expert in this kind of shopping, I even seldom shop in real. When I do, I go out, buy a lot of clothes at once and then I can lay back for a while. I don’t like shopping -_- Typically men, hehe

For soap and beauty products - fuzzybuttons dot com
For clothing - asos dot com
Obviously, there are more web sites but I trust the above two

http://www.asos.com/ you can thank me later
Asos is awesome xD
Euh, seems so strange, Exactly the same topic posted on this blog today
I haven’t experienced any real online shopping ( I mean buying physical and real items) yet. But I do buy my domains and hosting online without any hesitation and I will gladly buy something online if I am really interested
Shops? euh, Godaddy? for domains of course lol

Even I don’t know any online shops which ship to Mauritius. Find out about shipping agencies in Mauritius and ask them. They might know?
P T´s last [post] ..NaNoWriMo
sadly shipping costs to mru are usually higher than the price of the stuff itself. my mum takes advantage of my suitcase being empty when i come back for december hols -.-” she always sends clothes and randomalia over to mine lol. i suppose i might be able to fit your stuff in too and drop it off when i come by =p
I <3 online shopping too! I hear you about the shipping thing, some sites like Topshop & Asos only started shipping to NZ, it must be even worse for Mauritius and shipping would probably be horribly expensive. I believe Gmarket.kr ships worldwide though. It’s a great site, so many pretty things & it’s pretty affordable too
Orrr try http://www.etsy.com - most shops ship worldwide.
I don’t know if my previous comment came through
Anyway, try Asos, Topshop, Gmarket.kr (super affordable) & Etsy!
xo

To MKL,
I know right?! Items from China are very affordable but the online stores I’ve visited either sell in bulk or don’t ship to my country at all >.>
Another guy who’s not into shopping
But you know that Christmas is just around the corner, eh? What about Christmas shopping? I’ve been dragging my boyfriend to the mall most of the time when I’ve been out shopping and he survived till now
@Vali - Val. is that you? Are you the hot NK chick? If yes, hey!!! How’re you?

I do online shopping but not for clothes because I prefer to try the clothes first to see how they fit on me before I purchase them

To Fadil,
They have some lovely products on FuzzyButtons. Ohh and their gift baskets look so pretty!
Scented soaps and bath salts… everything one needs to have smooth skin and nice shiny hair?
To manju,
I just had a look at asos dot com. Omg they have so many pretty items! I already have my eye on a few dresses and shoes.
Do you shop at asos too?
To Yashvin,
Coincidence? Lol. Not so much. The other blogger who posted on worldwide shipping is a friend. We’ve been talking about virtual shopping yesterday and the idea for the post came from there
Hahaha I didn’t really have domain and hosting in mind when I wrote this post. I was thinking more about clothes and shoes and accessories. Usual girly stuff
To P T,
Some sellers on eBay ship to Mauritius. Funny thing is that sometimes the shipping cost is much more than the price of the item you’re actually buying!
I’ll have to check with shipping agencies here. I didn’t think about it. Thanks
To Kit,
I won’t blame your mom ’cause I do the same when my brother comes home for the holidays!
Btw, I know youuuuu! You might not remember who I am but we’ve met … last year in December I think
You’re Ced’s girlfriend, right?
To vali,
The first comment you submitted was detected as spam o_O But I managed to retrieve it
Mauritius sucks when it comes to online shopping -_- So unfair!!!
Thanks for all those online stores. I’m going to check out their items ^o^
To Pin,
Do you buy online a lot? I didn’t know!! Gimme some good online stores’ addresses
To Fadil,
o_O
None of my business but still… O_o !
To Carine,
Yeahh sometimes buying clothes online can be difficult because the size is not always accurate. That’s a risk especially if the item you’re buying is expensive >.>
So far, I haven’t bought any clothing online but I wanna give it a try
aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh, the thrills of reading your blog and saying BORING!
solly, me not into shopping and online shopping…so, i’ve to pass on this one!
To waz,
Another one who’s not into shopping! But who buys your clothes, personal stuff, groceries… etc??
Eratum - I meant NZ chick. I believe she is The Val. *wave*
Fadil´s last [post] ..Furious is back!
i’ve bought from asos yepss

/
but that was only when i was in the uk. they’ve only just introduced international shipping to mru. n its flat rate shipping too xD
i’m sooo tempted to order!
but i just thought u should know,
about the shoes from Asos, only order f you’re gonna order the branded stuff, coz the Asos label shoes are really low quality
and for simple basics and dresses, you can get the same stuff for super cheapo here in mru. You know Red snapper, right? they make some of the basics for Asos.
once i got a dress from Red Snapper, and it had an ‘Asos’ label in it
see this: http://www.asos.com/Cameron-Diaz/Asos/Asos-Button-Back-T-Shirt-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=270185&clr=Black&SearchQuery=t-shirt+dress&sh=0
i think you can still pick up this dress in red snapper for abt R100 or so. who wants to spend £25 in that case tee hee
nice post and kinda make you want to try shopping online

To Fadil,
Again none of my business but I think she is the one
Go check out her blog and you’ll know for sure.
But I bet you already did that, eh?
To manju,
Yeah I know Red snapper. I used to buy a lot of tops from there! Thanks for all the advice hun
To Gaia,
Maybe you should try to buy online too. It’s kinda fun. Heeheee.
Je ne connais aucun mec qui aime le shopping! Why? C’est biologique ou quoi?
Le plus chiant c’est que même quand ils livrent à Maurice, ça prend quand même 3 semaines!!! Extra long time ca!!!! Mais bon ki pu fer, c toujours ca.
Connie´s last [post] ..Vive le "SHIPPING WORLDWIDE!!!
i do my own shopping but it’s not something that i get excited about!
the only time i’ll be really excited about it is when i’m out to get me a new camera, a new lens, some nifty gadgets or pc related products….i know, i know, i know…yet another BORING typical guy!
ok.. I think all girls are shopaholics hahaha! we all need to get help for that… or not
I’ve purchased some stuff online too, and it’s fun and most of the time safe. Though on my first attempt, I did got skimmed, and someone used my creditcard to purchase plane tickets! Not kidding, you can find it somewhere in my blog! but well, I still trust the system, so I’m still shopping online, one thing I don’t like is, that when I order stuff from usa, like shopbop (my fav. online store) I have to pay a huge amount of extra money for taxes and all!!! crazy …
loves
toothfairynotes´s last [post] ..Men go spa too?
haha guilty as charged, he did tell me that u asked whether i had a blog. that’s why i’m volunteering to bring anything you order over to mru, im coming back around the 20th. well “anything” within reason lol!
btw, word of warning. asos does pretty good quality clothes but i wouldn’t recommend the shoes. i ordered a pair of gladiator flats 2 years ago:
1. they didn’t turn out to be “simili-cuir” (is simili-leather an acutual word?) as i’d thought, it was plastic.
2. they pinched my feet, la coupe est 1 peu petite.
3. they fell apart after 3-4 wears.
Dont really buy online too much, only my shoes from runwayboutique.com.au and some random stuff sometimes on ebay when I see interesting things
lol Ill let u know whenever I find something good

Pin´s last [post] ..Kayo Kimmidoll … Nanowrimo Day 4
ermm yeah I’m the one.
I agree with what Manju said! Although I have do have some clothes from Asos that are of super good quality. There’s also a marchand ambulant at PL, near Happy World who has Topshop factory samples! He’s amazing, I always go there for cheapo stuff..
vali´s last [post] ..
& yes of course you can add me

To Connie,
C’est vrai que 3 semaines c’est un peu long mais encore heureux que ce soit pas 3 mois! Gagne le temps fini mort sa >.>
To waz,
So then you can still be thrilled when shopping for stuff you like!
To toothfairynotes,
Omg, first try for online shopping and someone bought plane tickets with your card? Didn’t you go nuts when you found out? I know I would have gone crazy! Hahaha
I’m going to look for that post on your blog and have a look!
To Kit,
Yeah manju also mentioned about asos shoes poor quality. Thanks for letting me know. I’ll make sure not to order shoes from there!
Ohh that’s sweet of you for offering to bring my stuff when you come to Mauritius
If there’s anything I’ll let you know. And don’t worry, I’m not the kind of person who abuse people’s generosity! Hahaha. I know how annoying it can be when people ask you to get stuff for them when you travel. I’ve been there too! Lol.
To Pin,
Ok cool
I went to have a look on runwayboutique online store. They don’t ship worldwide, do they??
To Vali,
I knoww! Sometimes you can find so many great things at amazing prices on the streets. I think I should go to Port-Louis more often but in summer, it’s hell. So hot
And that reminds me I haven’t been to “La foire Quatre-Bornes” for ages! You can have nice clothes at a good price there too but then again it’s always so crowded!
There are sites available for you to sign-up for a service to help online shoppers such as you. Basically u pay them a fee and have the order sent to them and they’ll redirect them to you. Hehehe… Solution to fuel your shopping.
