Exotic foods on a stick

I’m back!
Well, actually I got back from my vacation more than a month ago but I was too lazy to update. Blogging hasn’t been high on my list of priorities lately and quite frankly, I’ve had a hard time finding my blogging mojo.
*sigh*
And yes, it has been happening very often this year! There! I said it. I’ve become a bad blogger!
Anyway! I haven’t come to you empty-handed. Here you go people. Some photos from my China – Malaysia vacation. My cousin tied the knot in Tianjin China and after the wedding, I spent a few days in Beijing. From there, I flew to Kuala Lumpur for a marathon shopping spree.
To my Malaysian friends, I know I didn’t tell you I was coming over but it was only a 3-day vacation to KL and kinda last minute as well. But I’m planning to travel to Malaysia again next year and this time I’ll stay much longer. I’ll let you guys know well in advance so we can plan a meetup, ok?
Photos on the way now! This post will include photos mostly from the night market and Wangfujing street.
Wangfujing night market – The most famous and popular snack street among Chinese and foreign visitors in Beijing – local Chinese snacks but also odd street foods such as deep fried insects, scorpions, sea star, seahorse, silk worm, and centipedes on a stick! I think I was more put off by the smell than by the sight of those peculiar snack foods. Let’s just say, it was not the most appealing aroma in the world but it sure was an interesting experience!

Bugs!

Yess! Sheep penis! Yikes!
I bet you won’t feel very hungry after that, eh?
That’s all for tonight. Will have more photos on my next post. Yummylicious pictures this time I promise!
Last post from La Pingouine… 1 000 chaussures
To La Pingouine,
I didn’t dare to try any of those weird foods! Too gross
the sheep penis is prbbly the yuckiest out of all!!! it’s so….dangly XD poor ewe!!!
Glad you’re back!
Those insects are gross…
Last post from day-dreamer… Back to Ipoh
To Kit,
There were dog penis and goat testicles too! Hahaha so gross!
To day-dreamer,
I know right? The insects looked disgusting but the smell was even worse!
What’s the yellowish thing (pic before the sea horse)? Meduse? I heard that Wangfujing is a famous commercial district/centre. Well there can also be a night market too. Can’t wait for the next set of pics. Have a nice wkend!c
To Clive,
Those orange yellowish thingies are crabs. Super big crabs!
Yeah you’re right. Wangfujing is one of the most commercial places in Beijing. Restaurants, malls, shops… you can find almost anything there.
This was mildly disturbing. I was eating while reading this, thanks a lot :|
*goes back to eating.. LOL
Nice play here, Gele. These exotic dishes are not the common diet among standard Chinese, but I’m sure they are the latest craze among adventure seeking foreigners, who pass by this famous market. Keep blogging more, we all missed ya!
To Meli,
Hahaha I should have put a note at the beginning of this post : Warning – content may be disturbing or repulsive to sensitive viewers
To Nino,
You’re right. Exotic foods are not uncommon at all in China but these are mostly for tourists with a flair for food adventure.
Wanna share some deep-fried scorpions with me? Or maybe you’d like to put your tastebuds to the test and try some sheep penis? Yummy!
did you try the bugs and other creepy things? lol
To sherry-lynn,
Noooo. I am NOT an adventurous eater – at all! :p
