It tastes like heaven

There is nothing more pleasant than to kick off the week-end by indulging yourself with a delightful treat. Whoever knows me is aware of my fondness for chocolate desserts and one of my favorites would be the mousse au chocolat. Chocolate mousse is a classic among desserts. It’s simple and yet it tastes like heaven.
On Friday night, I decided to give it a try and attempted at making chocolate mousse for the first time! Dark chocolate, eggs, heavy cream… I had everything I needed at hand.

It required only a few minutes of preparation, but I think the most difficult part was whisking the egg whites to a soft peak and then folding in the whites to the chocolate mixture.
This is the end result after the mousse was refrigerated overnight.

I couldn’t wait to taste my home-made chocolate mousse! *taking a spoonful* Hmmm… Smooth and rich, yet incredibly light and airy, with the delight of a seductive texture that melts in your mouth like a cloud. Just the way I like my chocolate mousse.

For a first attempt, it was everything I hoped it would be… and even more ![]()
To Bruno,
I used this recipe :

I simply didn’t add the brandy and replaced the castor sugar with vanilla sugar. It gives the mousse more flavor
Are you a sweet tooth?
OMG! I really gotta make something of chocolate this weekend.
I absolutely need to eat some chocolate after reading this post.
Your mousse looks awesome. I like the dark colour of the chocolate. Usually in restaurants the color is paler. I prefer dark mousse, the chocolate taste is more intense!
I WAAAAAAANT!
what if we don’t use egg?
coz i don’t eat egg!
there should be a substitute, right?
To Morinn,
Try this recipe whenever you have a huge craving for a chocolatey dessert. For sure this mousse will make your day
I think the color of the mousse depends on the amount of cream and the type of chocolate used. I’ve seen in some recipes that milk chocolate can also be used as an ingredient. Personally I think dark choc is the best. It brings a bitter sweet taste and adds such a rich and intense flavor to the dessert. Simply wonderful!
To d-d,
*pats*
*gives dd a pot of chocolate mousse*
Enjoy
To Waz,
I’ve browsed the net for eggless chocolate mousse and I found this:

There are plenty of chocolate mousse recipes that don’t use eggs.
From what I read, the light texture of chocolate mousse depends mostly on the egg whites. I think if you don’t use whites, the mousse will be less airy. Why not give it a try and let me know?
Looks like mine! Yummy

To Nussaibah,
I bet yours was very yummy too! Next time I make choc mousse again, I’m going to add some strong coffee to the preparation. I hear it tastes even better!
To Jemima,
Yeah it doesn’t look so bad
If I had creme chantilly and some cherries, I would have made a more elaborated deco for the mousse. Hmm… just thinking about it… a dark mousse topped with chantilly and a cherry!
To Yusha,
I just saw the tag. I’m the creative one? Hehe, sounds fine to me!
